The potato was unknown to the white man until it came to the New World. Spanish explorers

The potato was unknown to the white man until it came to the New World. Spanish explorers (Prospector) found some of the Indians in South America growing potatoes. The potato is one of the things that the South American Indians contributed to the world.
Tobacco also was not known to the white man until it came to America. Explorers came from England to what is now Virginia (VA). There they learned from the Indians to smoke tobacco. Tobacco is one of the things that the North American Indians contributed to the world.
Another food raised by the Indians that was strange to the white man was called Indian corn. Today corn is grown in nearly all parts of the United States . It is also grown in many other places.
In addition, the Indians gave us many names for states, cities, and other things. Chicago is one such name. Topeka, Sangamon, and Allegheny are others .
